Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for creating unnecessary controversy over the selection of Ahmedabad as the venue for the 2023 World Cup match between India and Pakistan. Wasim Akram while talking to the media at an event in Karachi on Tuesday said that Pakistan should avoid unnecessary tension and play the matches at the venues where they are scheduled.
“I don’t understand unnecessary statements like ”we won’t play in Ahmedabad” said by Wasim Akram, PCB should ask Pakistan players before any statement, they don’t care, they will play where they have to play. It was further said that if you have an ego and if you think you can stand your ground then you must speak up.
But then move on, always think before you say anything, but if you can’t then don’t talk about it, everyone is a patriot for their country.
He said this is just a game. Take it as a game”. The PCB’s concerns about playing in Ahmedabad were mainly related to security reasons.
After extensive discussions and negotiations between the BCCI and PCB, The BCCI agreed to accept PCB’s proposed hybrid model for the Asia Cup. As a result of these talks, the India-Pakistan match is now scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.
